The Criminal Procedure Code, promulgated by Royal Kram No. NS/RKM/0807/024 on 10 August 2007, establishes the procedural rules and principles that must be strictly followed to determine the existence of a criminal offense and to guide the investigation, prosecution, and adjudication of criminal cases.  It aims to ensure that criminal offenses are properly identified, that guilt is fairly established, that offenders are justly punished, and that the rights of both victims and accused persons are protected. The Code further delineates the procedures for criminal and civil actions, including the collection of evidence, the conduct of trials, and the handling of judgments and appeals, thereby promoting fairness, legal certainty, and due process in the administration of criminal justice.
