The Law on Taxation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, dated 19 April 2023, was promulgated to modernize and strengthen the national tax system. Its purpose is to consolidate and codify existing tax rules and regulations into a comprehensive and coherent legal framework, addressing gaps and inconsistencies present in prior legislation. The Law repeals and replaces the Law on Taxation of 1997 and its subsequent amendments, providing detailed provisions governing various forms of taxation, definitions, and procedural requirements. It aims to enhance compliance, ensure fairness and transparency, and provide legal certainty for both taxpayers and tax authorities. Furthermore, the Law seeks to support revenue mobilization, facilitate efficient administration, and promote a favorable environment for investment and sustainable economic growth within the Kingdom of Cambodia.
